RENYI QI
Renyi Qi is a filmmaker who was born and raised in Shanghai. She later moved to New York and graduated from Barnard College, Columbia University, with a focus on Art History and Visual Arts.

Renyi’s passion for storytelling transcends borders. In 2019, she was selected as the cinematographer for a documentary film in Jerusalem. The film was screened at the Jerusalem Film Festival, marking Renyi’s entry into the global cinematic arena.

Renyi worked as an Associate Producer of “Blossoms Shanghai,” a TV series directed by Wong Kar-Wai, which earned 36 wins and 16 nominations at top awards. She also worked as a Second Assistant Director for the Chinese TV series “City of the City,” directed by Huatao Teng, which won the 2024 Chinese American TV Festival’s Golden Angel Award.

Renyi earned her MFA in Film & TV Production from the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts. She has received the Jon M. Chu Student scholarship and James Bridges and Jack Larson scholarship. As a producer and director, Renyi is committed to creating films that uplift marginalized voices and challenge traditional
narrative forms.​​
